Odoo Maintenance Mode is an Odoo app that places the Odoo server, both website and backend, in maintenance mode. Admins use it while running diagnostic tests or updates on the server.
Once maintenance mode is enabled for a website, every visitor without access lands on a maintenance page. Requests from customers stop reaching the store until the work is finished.
Access stays open for the admin and for allowed IP addresses. A Login button on the maintenance page lets registered users with enough rights sign in and use the front end.
The page title, page message, login page message, and image are all editable. Each message is translatable, so visitors read the notice in their own language.
Visitors can enter their email address on the maintenance page. Admins then send them a notification email after the server is back in working mode.

Why Do We Need Odoo Maintenance Mode?
Default Odoo has no switch to take the website offline during server work. Customers keep browsing, placing orders, and sending requests while tests and updates run.
Those requests can fail halfway or hit pages that are not ready. Visitors get no notice, and the store team has to answer the same complaints after the work ends.
Odoo Maintenance Mode blocks visitor requests during maintenance and shows a clear notice instead. The admin and the allowed IP addresses keep working in the backend and on the website.
In practice, the admin adds the office or developer IP to the Allowed IPs field before ticking Maintenance Mode. Without that IP, the team relies on the Login button to get back in.

Maintenance Mode Settings and Allowed IPs
The Maintenance Mode record controls when a website goes into maintenance. Admins pick the website, tick one checkbox, and list the IP addresses that keep access.
- Give the configuration a Name for easy reference.
- Select the Website that the maintenance mode applies to.
- Tick Maintenance Mode to put the website and backend under maintenance.
- Enter Allowed IPs (comma separated), required while maintenance is on.
- Publish or unpublish the configuration from the record header.
Under Maintenance Page for Website Visitors
Restricted users see a responsive under maintenance page instead of the store. The page tells visitors that the server is down for maintenance.

- Show the maintenance image on the left of the page.
- Display the page title and the maintenance message.
- Place a Login button at the top right of the page.
- Show an email field with a Notify Me button below the message.
- Keep the company name and email in the page footer.
Configuration for Restricted Users
Configuration for restricted users decides what visitors read during maintenance. Admins upload the page image and write each message in their own words.
- Upload the website template image, ideally 600 x 600 to 700 x 700 pixels.
- Set the Title of page shown at the top of the maintenance page.
- Write the Message at login page shown when a user tries to log in.
- Add the Message displayed in page below the page title.
- Translate each message for visitors who use other languages.
Message for Accessible Users in Backend
Accessible users, such as the admin, still use Odoo during maintenance. A short message at the top of the screen reminds them that the server is in maintenance mode.
- Enable or disable Display message to accessible users.
- Write the Message for accessible users in your own words.
- Show the message as a banner at the top of the Odoo backend.
- Translate the message like every other maintenance text.
Email Notification Feature Settings
The notification feature adds an email field to the maintenance page. Visitors leave their email, and the app checks it before saving.
- Enable notification feature in website template with one checkbox.
- Set the Title for email Notification shown above the email field.
- Write the Message displayed on valid email after a visitor subscribes.
- Write the Message displayed on invalid email for wrong addresses.
- Set the Message displayed if email exists for repeat entries.
Notify Visitors After Maintenance
Every email entered on the maintenance page is listed in the configuration with its state. After maintenance, one button sends the back online email to all pending addresses.

- View emails that need to be notified after maintenance mode.
- Track each email with a Pending or Sent state.
- See the created and last updated date of each entry.
- Click Send notification to pending emails once the store is live.
