Odoo SKU Generator -Allotting a unique name to human beings gives them a chance to make their identity. Same happens when it comes to products. As products are in large quantities with the same shape and size, giving them a unique code is necessary to make them visible on the website.

For this, we have to generate codes for the same. The codes are known as SKU or Stock Keeping Unit.

What is SKU?

A stock-keeping unit (SKU) is a scannable barcode, most often seen printed on product labels in a retail store. The label allows vendors to automatically track the movement of inventory. The SKU is composed of an alphanumeric combination of eight-or-so characters.

The module mainly generates the SKU (Internal Reference Code) for your website products. These codes are then allotted to each and every product available on the website.

The codes enable you to differentiate between products of the same shape, size and quantity in terms of their packaging date, expiry date, price, quantity, sold or not, etc.

It also helps in keeping the list of sold products and available products separately. The module also enables you to override all SKU products as well as selective SKU products. You can update product SKU from the Odoo backend.

Manage the configuration from the Odoo backend

• Manage the SKU of products from the backend.
• Tick the checkbox to automatically generate SKU on new product creation.

 Set the SKU Rule and type from the backend

• As shown, set the SKU Rule from the Odoo backend.
• You can select the categories for which you want to generate the SKU.
