Odoo Project Advance Team Management

Project > Teams opens the list of every team in the database. Each row carries the team name, its manager, and the department it belongs to.

• Open Project > Teams to see all the teams created so far.
• Read the team name, manager, and department straight from the list.
• Open any row to edit its members or its child teams.
• Click New to add a team without leaving the list view.
• Search the list when the database holds many teams.

The Team screen holds the project team record. Leaders open Team, click Create, and fill in the people and details the project later reads from.

Warehouse-driven sales teams can set a default location with Odoo Sales Team: Default Stock Location.

• Add a team name, a team manager, and the employees who belong to the team.
• Assign a department to the team for easier grouping in the Odoo backend.
• Add a description so the team knows what work it has to do.
• Link a parent team to place the record under the main project team.
• Open the Child Team tab, add the members, and save the sub-team.
• Remove a member from a created team whenever the team changes.

Create stage groups under Configuration > Stage Groups. Each stage group defines the stages a project task moves through while the work runs.

The project stage updates from the selected stage group. A leader can still change a stage by hand when the requirement changes.

• Open Configuration and select Stage Groups inside the Project module.
• Click Create to add a new stage group for project tasks.
• Set the stages that show where a task is currently working.
• Let the project stage update automatically from the selected stage group.
• Create tags and work stages from the Odoo backend.

A user with project leader access can create a project. The leader adds the title, then fills in the team and the extra people who will work on it.

• Log in with leader access to open the project creation screen.
• Add a project title and save the new project record.
• Add the team members who belong to the project team.
• Add an extra team and extra members who sit outside the main team.
• Keep extra members in separate roles on the assigned task.
• Manage the visibility of the project from the Odoo backend.

Tasks go only to people attached to the project. The assignee list covers members, team members, child team members, extra team, and extra members.

• Assign a task to a member, team member, or child team member.
• Add extra team and extra members to a task when the work needs them.
• Change the assignee of a task as the work moves to someone else.
• Update the project, deadline, tag, and stage group on the task.
• Add a description and extra information that explains the task.
• Filter tasks in the backend for quick action on a long list.

An employee with Project User access logs in and sees the teams they belong to. The same user can also work on tasks for other people in the team.

Employee reporting lines sit in a separate chart in Odoo Employee Organizational Chart.

• Check the teams that include the logged-in employee.
• Create or assign a task for another user of the same team.
• Check the timesheets recorded against an assigned task.
• Comment on an assigned task to keep the discussion inside Odoo.
• Update only the Team, extra teams, and members, as Project User access allows.

Administrator access gives the full picture. The administrator can check every team, project, task, and stage group in the database.

• Check all the teams created across the Odoo database.
• Open the list of all projects from the backend.
• Check the list of all the tasks in one view.
• Review every stage group set up for the projects.
• Assign a task to any member of a team.
